Trust is a wildly weird organizational behavior. It is often both a starting point and an end point, because it's incredibly hard to build, and many people don't give it freely. Trust also needs to account for an employee's previous experiences. The best boss in the world guiding a traumatized employee has a heavy lift that can't simply be fixed by initial trust.
