There's a movement in talent management about posting salary ranges... it'll be eons before all orgs get there (if ever) but it's at least been interesting to see the attention. THAT SAID, if you agree to an interview for an org that hasn't, yet, been up front about the salary, I'd completely agree that this time and space would not be the most ideal way to gauge salary.
