Excellent points, Paul, thank you! There are a lot of good practices NPOs can/should follow from the rest of the business-sphere, aren't there?
Differentiating between donors (to your point) is a big, good thing. It's hard sometimes, though, for those small nonprofits who don't have functioning CRMs, or CRMs at all! And let's face it, most NPOs (in the U.S., at least) are small organizations — 75% of them have budgets under $100,000. At best, some of those orgs are driving from Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. But even in those lay-platforms, there's a lot they can do to track background, engagement, interests, etc.
